Search for exciting STEM work experience opportunities in your area.

Whether you’re interested in sound engineering for the music industry, developing green technologies, creating software or designing buildings, STEM industries offer a huge range of career options.  Getting work experience lets you see what these industries are really like to work in.  It’s also a great way to show your proactivity and to demonstrate your drive and enthusiasm to future employers.

About The STEM Experience

The STEM Experience is the place where STEM employers can advertise their work experience vacancies and you can search for them.  This puts you in control of arranging your work experience, rather than waiting for your school or college to do it for you.  The STEM Experience attracts employers from a wide variety of STEM industries from across the UK, so there’s bound to be something to interest you.

How The STEM Experience works

Employers register on The STEM Experience outlining their industry area and a brief overview of the work experience opportunity they can offer

You register and create a personal profile

Once registered, you can search for employers in your area who are offering work experience opportunities

Once you’ve found a suitable employer, you indicate your interest via the site.  At this stage you can only see the employer’s name and industry area – no contact information or employer job role information can be seen

The employer receives an email indicating that you want to contact them. The employer can view your profile and either accept or decline the invitation

If the employer accepts your invitation, they will make contact with you directly to make arrangements for your work experience

Reporting on these interactions is maintained to help improve the matching process and representatives from The STEM Exchange may contact the individual parties to discuss case studies and testimonials.
